Counting procedures like the Rainflow counting procedure have proved to be an invaluable analysis tool in fatigue testing applications. WinDaq ExcelLink Advanced Trigger Real-Time ExcelLink

The WinDaq ExcelLink, short for WinDaq Advanced Trigger ExcelLink, is a bridge between the WinDaq software and Microsoft Excel. It enables a real-time connection to Excel spreadsheets (32- or 64-bit) and can stream data to Excel at high speed. Four trigger methods are available: two-point Windows trigger, one-point slope trigger with pre- and post-trigger data, manual single-row and block trigger, and programmable event-driven single-row trigger.

Even though Excel can store over 1,000,000 rows of data, this may be a small buffer for high-speed data acquisition. Hence, the trigger modes can be utilised to capture only the data of interest. ExcelLink supports advanced math to construct various trigger methods and evaluates every data point in WinDaq when assessing the trigger conditions.

The Window Trigger can capture signals inside or outside a range within two predefined start/stop conditions. The Slope Trigger with pre- and post-trigger can capture signals before and after a predefined trigger point. The Event Trigger can capture signals at the moment trigger conditions are met. The Derivative Trigger can capture the rate of change or glitches. The Paced Trigger can capture data at predefined intervals, and the Delayed Trigger can capture data at a predefined time after the trigger condition is met. The Manual Trigger can capture signals with the operator’s key instruction.

    Advanced CODAS allows calculated waveforms to overwrite or append themselves to existing channels.

    A single keystroke from the Playback screen activates the Advanced CODAS menu system of easy-to-use scripts. Simply enter calculation parameters, and activate the function. Often-used scripts may be combined into a batch file.

Calculation Functions

  • Differentiator
    Calculates a rate of change waveform with built-in, adjustable low pass filtering.
  • Integrator With 4 Reset Methods
    Generates the area bounded by the curve reset on zero crossing of the input waveform, level of the output waveform, time, or as a function of an external event.
  • Rectifier
    Used in the analysis of polarized signals, this function produces a rectified view of any waveform. Supported rectification functions are absolute value (full wave), and positive and negative unipolar (half wave).
  • Moving Average Filter
    (Also referred to as a boxcar integrator.) Use this utility for filtering noise, or for generating mean waveforms. The function can also simulate a high pass filter to eliminate base line shifting.
  • Arithmetic Operations
    This function allows you to combine waveforms as a function of arbitrary mathematical formulas. Also supports phase shifting of selected waveforms in precise increments.
  • Peak and Valley Detector
    Detects cycle-by-cycle inflection points (minimum and maximum excursion) on any periodic waveform. Allows peak-only, valley-only, and peak and valley selections.
  • Report Generator
    Generates a report of peak detected waveforms in spreadsheet (CSV) or ASYST/ASYSTANT format. Reports value at peak, value at valley, rate, and mean. Rate information may be reported in Hz, cycles per minute, or an interval in seconds. Reports values cycle-by-cycle, or on a multiple cycle averaging basis.

WinDaq has two Applications:

WinDaq Recording Software

– offers a real-time recording with a zero-delay, real-time display with simultaneous data recording to disk.
  • Easy Set Up
    enter the channels you want to acquire. Select from gain, signal averaging, true RMS, frequency, and peak or valley detection per channel. Define a single to 32-channel display — either triggered sweep (oscilloscope-like) or scrolling (chart recorder-like). Define a sample rate.
  • Record a continuous waveform, or use the triggered mode with selectable trigger level, slope, and pre- and post-trigger times.
    WinDaq automatically time- and date-stamps, then streams acquired data to disk.
  • Up to 32 channels can be displayed at once. Each channel can be scaled into meaningful engineering units, such as such as psi, °C, amps, rpm, watts, horsepower, etc. You can record waveform data to disk in the background while running any combination of programs in the foreground. (Acquisition speeds and some features vary with data acquisition hardware, so refer to the hardware page for details.)
  • Annotation.
    Label channels and apply comments to  event markers while you record. For example: “Beginning test phase 1,” “Small vibrations noticed,” “Starting cool-down cycle,” etc. 

 

WinDaq Playback (or WinDaq Waveform Browser WWB) Software

– offers an easy way to review and analyse waveform data acquired by WinDaq Recording software.
  • Playback’s disk streaming design allows data files of any length to be quickly plotted on your computer.
    Compress an entire recording to one screen-width for a bird’s eye view, then expand around an area of interest for a closer look. Use the cursor to measure amplitudes and timing with precision. Move to any event marker with the click of a mouse button.
  • Built-in analysis functions.
    Apply frequency and filtering analysis with the FFT and DFT functions. Analyse any range of waveform data with the statistics function. Use X-Y plotting to examine the relationship of one channel to another. Extended analysis functions allow waveform peak detection, integration, differentiation, arithmetic operations, and more.
  • Export Data.
    Free Excel export from Playback software. You can even copy a graphical image displayed by the WinDaq Playback software and paste it directly into a word processing document. (Optional Live stream to Excel with WinDaq/XL – requires UNLOCK Code)
